First Light

I’ve wanted a telescope for a very long time, but could never quite justify it. For various reasons, now I can - and thanks to the Microsoft Perks+ program, here’s my Apertura AD10 Dobsonian 10 inch. It’s as lovely as I hoped, though a heavy beast to assemble and move around. Arrived today, so immediate assembly and a fun evening of viewing mostly the moon. I did manage to find Jupiter, and nearly fell off my chair when the four moons were revealed. A real Galileo moment. Finding anything else proved hard as the clouds rolled in, hopefully it’ll become second nature.
